My Sister Made My Wedding Garters For My Wedding

February 5th, 2009 No comments

I just started planning my wedding. This was the happiest time of my life. There was a lot of planning to do and I knew I needed some help in the planning. My sister offered to help me with the planning of my wedding. I was so glad and relieved that she offered to help me plan my wedding. We had a lot of work ahead of us and very little time. Not to mention also the high cost of everything. I wrote a list on all the things that I needed to purchase. As we were going through the list we would compare prices and that helped in saving money. We did a lot of searching for items and got a lot accomplished. During our search when we were looking at wedding garters, my sister offered to make them instead of me purchasing them. I thought what a great idea. Plus I knew it would be better because it was made by her and I knew she would put a lot of love in it while she was making them.

Our first thing was to decide what look we wanted. I did not want cheap garters. I wanted elegant and sexy looking garters. I did some research and what a hard decision that was. There are so many gorgeous styles out there. I had to make up my mind on the style of the wedding garters because time was running out and she had to have the time to make them. We finally decided on the garter that was my keepsake to be wider and the one that I was going to toss would be smaller in width. My wedding garter would be made out of chiffon and satin with also a satin bow and jewelry in the shape of two hearts. The other wedding garter that is used for the toss will be the same but in a smaller width.

Now it was time to find the right color and to match it to my wedding dress. That was a task in its self. This took some time because of all the different colors of white. We finally found the right color of white to match my wedding dress. Now we had to find the right color in the ribbon. Again there were so many colors of white and it took some time to get a perfect match. Our next step was to find the jewelry that had two hearts. This took some time finding. We looked in craft stores and could not find them. Then we looked online and finally after some time we did find them.

Now all are searching and purchasing was done and it was time to sew the wedding garters. My sister took the measurements of my leg to get a perfect fit. She was finished in no time. I could not wait to see them. She made me wait until she was done sewing them before I could see them.  The time arrived, my bridal garter was finished and so was the other garter that you toss. I was so excited that I could not wait to try it on. When I finally saw them and tried them on, I could not believe how gorgeous and elegant they looked. I had a hard time taking them off.

I am so glad that my sister helped me plan my wedding and most importantly how she took the time and made my wedding garters. My keepsake garter will remind me of the love she put in it. It will always be a memory in how she helped me plan my special day.

Beautiful And Affordable Bridesmaid Gifts

February 2nd, 2009 No comments

I found wedding favors, groomsmen gifts, bridesmaid gifts and so much more at prices we could actually afford. With all the wedding ceremony accessories and wedding reception supplies that we needed to buy, we were really concerned that we wouldn’t be able to pull this off financially. Wedding attire for the ceremony wasn’t exactly cheap, although we did get decent prices for everything. Then you’ve got to consider the décor of the ceremony and reception, all the rentals on tables and chairs, music, food and our gorgeous wedding cake and that’s just to name a few of the wedding items we still had to get.

Lucky for us, a friend of mine at work told me about a place where I could get most of my supplies wholesale.  She said they carried a great selection of wedding accessories and reception supplies at discount prices.  So we decided to check it out.  She was right on the mark, we found so many things on our list and it didn’t cost us a fortune. There were a lot of wedding favor gifts to choose from along with beautifully designed favor boxes and hang tags. They even have themed favors and boxes that were more than affordable.  My fiance found exactly what he wanted to give all his guys in the wedding party and even a very special gift for his best man. I looked through quite a selection of great cheap bridesmaid gift ideas that I knew everyone of my girls would appreciate.  They were so tastefully designed and just perfect for my bridesmaids and my maid of honor. There were even childrens gifts for the flower girl and ring boy, and the best part is they were extremely affordable.

Since they had such great deals in wedding accessories and reception supplies, we decided to get everything we needed from there. The wedding cake toppers were gorgeous and some had a whimsical side to them, to help get your reception off to a good start.  That’s the one we chose, we wanted our reception to be combined with love and laughter, and it was. Everyone got a kick out of the funny cake topper that crowned our beautiful wedding cake.

They had everything from reception decorations to crystal champagne flutes and some very exquisite wine glasses too. Our wedding reception tables shined with crystal and silver and all had lovely unique centerpieces on each one.  The place card holders were so adorable and probably could have been used as wedding favors, but since we saved so much money on everything, we decided to get everyone a separate wedding favor and they could have the place card holders as an extra keepsake of our wedding.

I thought about getting the girls in my wedding party a lovely necklace, but after looking at all the unique bridesmaid gifts I decided on something a little different. I had each of their names engraved on them and each of them seemed very happy with their little gift. I’m so glad we found this place. It not only saved us a lot of money, but it also helped to make our reception a big success.  There are so many ideas for wedding receptions there, and all of them are pretty fantastic.

Everyone had a wonderful time at the reception and I not only sent out thank you cards for all the super wedding gifts our friends and families gave us, but I also received cards from our guests, thanking us for the terrific time they had at our reception and the fabulous gifts we gave them. I know where I’m shopping for our anniversary party supplies one year from now.

Unique Favors For Our Royal Guests

January 27th, 2009 No comments

Shopping for a wedding can be very exciting, but it can also be frustrating and a bit overwhelming.  There is just so much to take care of when you’re planning a wedding and reception. Getting my dress and all the other dresses for the ladies in my wedding party was easier than getting all the accessories and supplies I needed for the ceremony and reception, especially the reception.  I never realized how much goes into a wedding reception until I had to plan my own.  Well, I wasn’t exactly alone in the planning, I did have some help from my mom, but it was still tiring and sometimes a little frustrating. I decided I wanted a fairy tale wedding, with castles and carriages and everyone dressed appropriately, so I guess you could say, it was kind of a costume wedding. I debated with myself for a long time on the type of wedding and reception I wanted, and the storybook one was it.

The first thing we did was to find an old building or castle type building to reserve for our ceremony and reception, Then, came the really hard part, getting all the supplies from wedding invitations to wedding favors. Our wedding invitations were quite lovely with lettering that said “ We request the presence of your company”, making it sound like a royal invitation. It also told everyone to come in costume like they would wear for a fancy royal ball. The decorations were fantastic with drapery everywhere, on the ends of all the reception tables and across the wedding table for the bride and groom. It was beginning to look like something out of the Marie Antoinette days. It was simply gorgeous.

After getting the decorations and table settings for the reception, we went looking for unique wedding favor ideas for our friends and families. There were so many storybook themed favors to choose from. From little wedding carriages to candles of all styles. I chose the candles, they had such a regal look to them.  I couldn’t resist. They were absolutely perfect, and the favor boxes I chose were adorable little bridal coaches, which made my tables look even more elegant.

I was dreading all the shopping and planning that had to be done, but once I got started on my dream wedding, I couldn’t stop myself.  With so many choices and ideas for the perfect fairy tale wedding and reception available, anyone can plan the perfect wedding. I was able to find everything I needed from decorations to unique favors.  Want to know what my secret was?  I shopped online for everything, except the dresses, of course. They needed to be fitted.

Everything at my wedding ceremony was everything I hoped it would be. The room was filled with red and white roses, everyone looked fantastic as they walked down the aisle. The bridesmaids and the flower girl wore ball gown type dresses and the men and ring boy wore outfits from the days of old with their vests and long tailed suit coats. Then there was my Prince Charming standing beside me, looking so handsome.  I really did feel like Cinderella, in fact, I even found a place that I could buy glass slippers. Everything was perfectly fairy tale enhanced.

At the reception everyone was impressed with our wedding cake and the adorable castle cake topper I chose, and with their unique wedding favor in the gorgeous silver favor boxes.

I finally had my dream wedding and it was just as spectacular as any royal ceremony. Then we were off for our royal honeymoon in Ireland. You guessed it, in a castle styled hotel.  The dream continues!

Hang Tags Were The Best Way To Go

January 23rd, 2009 No comments

A friend of mine shopped for wedding favors with me, and even though I had help, it was hard deciding what to buy.  There were so many nice things to choose from. They had beautiful candles and candle holders, little flower vases and mini photo albums, and that’s just to name a few.  I’m having a storybook wedding and reception, so I wanted to get something that went well with castles, princes, and princesses.  You know, like right out of Cinderella or Snow White.  After looking at all they had to offer, I finally decided to try online shopping.  So many of my friends have recommended that to me before, but I never really gave it a try. Until now. They were right, I found exactly what I was looking for. The perfect storybook wedding favors for everyone. Now I had to decide if I wanted to package them in favor boxes or just use hang tags for each of them.

Favor boxes would be nice and they really have quite a few gorgeous designed ones, and some that are for the themed wedding I’m having.  But I really didn’t want to take away from the lovliness of the favors.  They would look so nice being displayed on the tables for everyone to see.  They would also go very well with my choice of décor. So, with that in mind, I decided on the tags.

I think I made the right decision, because they really did look lovely on the reception tables. The favor boxes would have been nice too, but I was afraid it would take away from the rest of the table décor.  The tags worked just perfectly. On each one was hang tag printing with the bride and groom names and the date of our wedding. That made them even more special.  Besides, the wedding favors depicted my theme just the way I wanted it, so I didn’t need fancy wrappings.  I received a lot of compliments, not only on the décor and my theme, but the way all my tables were set up.  The centerpieces were absolutely exquisite and had the most colorful flower arrangements. The florist did a fantastic job on them. I had crystal everywhere that it was possible, the vases for the flowers, the champagne flutes and even the wine glasses.  My tables sparkled with elegance and had gorgeous red table cloths to add vibrant color.

Our cake was something special too. Resting on top was a castle cake topper, and the cake itself was white with pink icing and red roses circling each layer.  There were four layers to this cake.  It was really pretty magnificent, if I do say so myself. It was also, really delicious. We cut our cake and everyone cheered, clapped and snapped pictures from every direction in the room. It was totally awesome.

My brother in law gave the toast and everyone raised their champagne flutes to our happiness. Then we had the first dance for the bride and groom.  It was so romantic. I really did feel like I was in a storybook wedding. After that, we pretty much danced, laughed and had a great time.  A lot of my guests came up to me to congratulate us and compliment me on what a wonderful job I did in the planning and how beautiful the ceremony was. Believe it or not, I even got a compliment from one of our guests about the hang tag. She thought that was a great idea putting our names and wedding date on it. So I guess I made the right choice for that. I know I made the right choice when it came to picking a groom.

My Valentine Hearts Wedding Day

January 20th, 2009 No comments

I’m an incurable romantic, and thank heavens my fiance is too. That’s why we chose Valentines Day to be our wedding day. I know most people don’t like to have their wedding on the same day as a holiday, but we were really looking forward to it. It just seemed right to celebrate our marriage on a day that is especially known for romance.

You’d really be surprised how many wedding decorations and accessories there are to go with a valentine theme. There was everything from invitations to hearts party favors, and I wanted my wedding and reception done in a romantic motif.  That’s one reason hearts were just perfect.

I had an absolutely gorgeous dress and all of my bridesmaids, maid of honor and even my little flower girl, with her beautiful basket of roses, looked so elegant as they walked down the aisle. My fiance and all of the groomsmen and the little ring bearer were very handsome in their tuxedos. Of course, my fiance was extra handsome. We did everything in our ceremony the traditional way. The music, the flowers and we even made up our own vows to say.  My dad gave me away, my fiances brother was his best man, and my sister was my maid of honor. Which, by the way, worked out nicely because the best man and the maid of honor seemed to hit if off quite well at the reception.  There may be another wedding coming our way, in the near future.

My reception was almost as romantic as my ceremony. I chose a lovely heart shaped cake topper with two little doves to rest on top of our three tiered wedding cake. It really looked exquitsite.  I had crystal champagne flutes for the toast to the bride and groom, and beautiful flowery centerpieces with little butterflies in the arrangements. I did get a lot of compliments on the reception décor, from many of our guests. At first I was a little afraid I may have gone overboard on all the heart stuff I bought, but everyone kept telling me how fantastic everything looked, so I guess I didn’t get too crazy with them.  Even when it came to the wedding favors I had hearts in mind.  But these really were beautiful hearts favors candles with two little silvers hearts on the holder. I liked them so much I bought a couple extra for myself.

All my guests seemed to like them. Two of the ladies at my reception thanked me for such a lovely gift, and one of them wanted to know where I bought them, so she could pick up a few extra. They really were quite adorable, and they made great place card holders too.

It wasn’t easy choosing the wedding favors for everyone. I found so many things I wanted to buy, but, you just can’t have them all. But I did pick out something special for my bridesmaids, my maid of honor and my flower girl. My fiance picked out the gifts for the groomsmen, best man and ring boy. We also got some wonderful gifts for our parents, of course, which they really seemed to appreciate.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the ceremony and some of them got to take a rose home, as a souvenir from our flower girls basket.  We also had a great time at the reception, with lots of dancing, good food and lots of laughs. Maybe I did go a little crazy with the heart motif, but what can I say, I loved my valentine hearts wedding day, and the memories will last a us lifetime.

Better Start On Those Wedding Supplies Right Away!

January 20th, 2009 No comments

There is just so much to do and so much to take care of when planning a wedding and reception.  With all the wedding supplies that are needed it’s best to begin as soon as you can. There is everything from wedding invitations to wedding favors to plan for. Some brides find it helpful to have a planning book, in order to list all the supplies and other things they need to take care of.  You’ve got caterers, a band, choosing the perfect wedding cake and so much more to arrange.

You need to decide what type of wedding ceremony you want to have, is it a themed wedding, a traditional wedding or maybe you’ve thought about having a destination wedding, so you can combine the honeymoon with the ceremony? Destination weddings have become very popular today. You simply choose your destination and have a few friends and family join you there for your wedding ceremony and reception. Some popular places are Mexico, Jamaica, and Aruba.  There are also cruise ship weddings, that can take you on your honeymoon right after your ceremony.  But if you are having your ceremony and reception here at home, then you need a long list of supplies and accessories.

First of all, after you have set a date, time and location for your wedding, be sure to get those invitations out, first thing.  Give people a chance to RSVP (and to pick out a fabulous wedding gift).  After you’ve taken care of the dresses, your gown, and all the accessories that go along with it, you need to concentrate on all the things you will need for your reception party. You have tables for your guests that need centerpieces, table settings, glassware and more. Have your seating arrangement situated with little place cards at each setting, and be careful not to set uncle George by uncle John if there is any type of personality conflict between the two. That could prove to be a little awkward.

When you choose the wedding favors you want to give to your guests, it’s always nice to have them packaged in colorful, attractive favor boxes or add a nice little thank you tag. You can even buy place card holders that will serve as wedding favors for each guest, like mini wedding frames, or attractive candle holders. If money is a problem and you are afraid of going over your wedding budget, there are plenty of discount wedding supplies you can find that will help in the financial department.

After you’ve picked out your gorgeous wedding cake, you need to choose a cake topper. Once again there are many types and styles to choose from.  There are the themed toppers, like in the storybooks with castles and other fairytale selections. Or, you may like to go for the funny cake toppers for those with a sense of humor that can really start the party off with both love and laughter, by depicting the whimsical side of marriage. There are a lot of wedding cake supplies to help you turn your wedding cake into a real work of art. With your decorations, silver serving set and crystal champagne flutes, your wedding tables will be the epitome of elegance and style. Your guests will never forget the fabulous time they had at your wedding party.

No matter what type of ceremony and reception you are planning, whether it be traditional or new age, you can find just about anything you need in supplies and accessories to make any wedding and reception a total success.
